Membangun Alam Pikir Ekoteologis: Sebuah Refleksi Teologis Atas Tesis Lynn White

Abstract

Ecological destruction is a global phenomenon that demands a paradigm change and a new attitude towards the earth as the shared home of all creation. The increasingly of environmental damage is influenced by human paradigms and actions, resulting in exploitative and destructive actions against the earth. Historian Lynn White points out that Western Christian traditions contribute to today's ecological damage. White proposed Francis of Asisi as a "role model" of attitudes and behaviors towards the universe. The research method used in this research is the literature study. This study spread the discourse around White's thesis that produces 4 values of ecological spirituality as an effort to build ecotheological thought towards sustainable communities internalized in environmentally friendly attitudes and behaviors, namely: One, from anthroposentris to Human and non-Human Partnerships. Two, from instrumentalia to intrinsic. Three, from pantheism to panentheism, and the last from self centered to other directed.

Abstrak

Kerusakan ekologis merupakan sebuah fenomena global yang menuntut perubahan paradigma dan sikap baru terhadap bumi sebagai rumah bersama seluruh ciptaan. Kerusakan lingkungan hidup yang semakin parah dipengaruhi oleh paradigma dan tindakan manusia, sehingga melahirkan tindakan eksploitatif dan destruktif terhadap bumi. Lynn White seorang ahli sejarah menuding bahwa tradisi Kekristenan Barat berkontribusi terhadap kerusakan ekologis dewasa ini. White mengajukan Fransiskus dari Asisi sebagai “role model” sikap dan perilaku terhadap alam semesta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian pustaka. Kajian ini membentangkan diskursus seputar tesis White yang  menghasilkan 4 nilai spiritualitas ekologis sebagai upaya membangun alam pikir ekoteologi menuju komunitas berkelanjutan yang terinternalisasi dalam sikap dan perilaku ramah lingkungan, yakni: Satu, dari antroposentris menuju Kemitraan Human dan non-Human. Dua, dari instrumentalia menuju intrinsik. Tiga, dari panteisme menuju panentheisme, dan terakhir dari self centered  menuju other directed.
